About Civil Engineering Department

           The Department of Civil Engineering at Govt. Polytechnic Jagatsingh was started in the year 2017  with an intake capacity of 60 students per year.
        Our department works with an motto for providing skill for technical knowledge with an wide scope of practical experience of the students so that they deemed fit in the recent era of technologies.
         Our department is committed to impart comprehensive education and practical skills in the field of civil engineering and plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of aspiring civil engineering students.
           The department of Civil Engineering is equipped with latest facilities and equipments for Diploma Engineering students.  

The department of Civil Engineering comprises of well equipped various laboratory such as

  • Civil Engineering lab
  • Survey lab
  • CWP lab
  • Ph lab
  • Project and model lab and
  • CAD lab.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING:

               To establish ourselves as a Leading institution in civil engineering field by imparting quality education and practical knowledge creating individuals with high professional and ethical values determined in nation building.


MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING:

  • To provide wholesome and comprehensive education that promotes criticalthinking, and hands-on experience in the domain of civil engineering. (Technical knowledge).
  • To develop leadership and communication skills through curricular and extra co-curricular activities making them competent towards employability opportunity (leadership).
  • To inculcate the values of professional ethics, societal responsibilities, and environmental consciousness in our students, preparing them to be responsible engineers of the future. (ethical and sustainability).
  • To make the students updated as far as possible in terms of operating software and machineries enabling them in works according to the needs of different industries (industry interaction).

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the Department :

 

  • PEO 1: Diploma graduates will possess a strong foundational understanding of mathematics, basic sciences, and core civil engineering principles, enabling them to solve engineering problems.
  • PEO 2: Diploma graduates will be skilled in using modern engineering tools, techniques, and software, and capable of executing civil projects effectively.
  • PEO 3: Diploma graduates will develop the highest ethical standards, valuing societal, Environmental and economic considerations in their professional career.
  • PEO 4: Diploma graduates will develop the spirit of leadership which will help inthe ability to work both individually and as a team member in a multi-disciplinary environment.

               Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the  engineering problems.
2. PO2 - Problem Analysis:
              Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.
3. PO 3 - Design/ development of solutions:
               Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.

4. PO 4 - Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing:
                 Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.
5. PO 5 - Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment:

               Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.
6. PO 6 - Project Management:
                Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.

                Ability to analyze individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.

  1. PSO1: Plan, Analyze and design various components in civil engineering field at a cost effective manner.
  2. PSO2: Apply technical knowledge in modern software for solving complex structure and use modern instruments for surveying large area.
  3. PSO3 : Compute various results obtained in civil engineering laboratory and correlate with standard values in order to maintain the quality of output that develops ethical practice in the industry.

List of Laboratories :
1. Civil Engg Lab-I :
       (i) Material testing Laboratory:
           Material Testing Laboratory is a well equipped laboratory which provides ideas on the practical knowledge of test several properties of material like ductility, surface roughness, malleability, harden ability etc.

      (ii) Concrete Laboratory :
           The objective of concrete laboratory is to determine the physical properties of building construction materials like cement, fine and coarse aggregate, steel, and strength characteristics of cement mortar, plain cement concrete and reinforced cement concrete.

2. Civil Engineering Drawing :
       The Computer-Aided Civil Engineering Drawing Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art software and hardware for creating and analyzing engineering drawings. Students learn to design and draft plans for infrastructure projects using computer-aided civil engineering design tools. This lab enhances their skills in precision drafting, spatial visualization, and effective communication of engineering concepts.
3. Land Survey Practice :
       Land Survey Engineering Lab is equipped with advanced surveying instruments and software to train students in precise measurement techniques, land surveying, and geospatial data analysis. The lab facilitates hands-on learning, including total stations, DGPS receivers, preparing students for real-world surveying challenges and mapping applications.
4. Civil Engineering Lab - II :
      (i) Soil Testing Lab –
           It conducts various experiments to analyze soil properties, compaction, permeability, shear strength, and bearing capacity. The lab plays a crucial role in assessing soil behavior for construction projects, foundation design, and geotechnical investigations.
      (ii) Transportation Laboratory –
           The Transportation Lab in the Civil Engineering Department offers various experiments and equipment related to properties of Aggregate and bitumen. The practical application of transportation engineering lab involves testing and analyzing the properties of construction materials such as asphalt, concrete, and aggregates.

      (iii) Public Health Engineering Laboratory-
            In Public Health Engineering Lab, students learn to analyze and treat water. They develop crucial skills to design sustainable solutions for waste management, pollution control, and environmental protection, contributing to a cleaner and healthier planet.
